“Knowing the Light, seeking the Light, is the right of every living being; Light belongs to all!” Part 2

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015

The chapter quote focuses on the truth of this unity we share . It says, if you seek, you shall find … that Light within, and it also says that it is our right, each of us, to KNOW our own Light and connection to Spirit. Why focus on this? Isn’t it obvious that we are all connected to each other through our Source creator? Unfortunately, we don’t have to look farther than the front page of our local news to see that, as a humanity, we do not know this truth at all. If we did, we would understand that there is a “plan in the universe of love and Light,” and the key for that plan to work out is for humanity as a whole to recognize the unity of our Light. In doing so, it will come to pass that, what I call, “brothers and sisters in the Light,” no matter what religions they hold to or races they come from can indeed make peace with each other on this sacred planet.

There can be no judgment here as to why so many of us do not know our true Light. We have been, with some few exceptions, raised in cultures of unawareness, asleep to our own connection to the Light of the One. What it takes to come in touch with that Light is embodied in the chapter quotation: Knowing the Light, seeking the Light, is the right of every living being; Light belongs to all!

Not much more needs to be said about this, except that along the way of seeking for our Light, we may find ourselves believing that we have the “best” way to know our Light, or the “right” path home. Of course, it is important to be aware of this aspect as we need to remind ourselves that that cloth spoken of earlier, is not just a “part of the weave,” but rather is the WHOLE CLOTH. What we want to do is learn to understand the different patterns and weaves within the fabric of the whole.

So, it is everyone’s right to seek and know one’s own Light, and in doing so, it is everyone’s right to enjoy the safety, harmony and creative joy of sharing in a community of Light. Fear comes from separation from the One. Faith brings us back to our commonality in the One. And this is where
happiness lies: in coming to know each other in the unity of the Light.

“Knowing the Light, seeking the Light, is the right of every living being; Light belongs to all!”

Friday, October 30th, 2015

Oh, how I wish we were all raised this way, “… knowing our own Light,” but this simply has not been so. Some of us were raised to believe that it’s all outside of us, that Great Spirit exists and that only by doing “good works” can we be part of the Light of the One. Others were raised to believe that they didn’t have any Light at all. And yet others that only day-to-day “reality” was real. And still others, the few fortunate ones amongst us, were raised to believe in and know their own Light. Whichever place you find yourself, this quote points to the truth that – with all humility – each of us has a “right to know the Light and seek it” to the fullest extent of our being. I say with “humility” because in my mind, in pursuing our Light we come in touch with a humble recognition that though we have individual lives, we are part of a single fabric of life, a unity of Oneness.

While we have all have our different backgrounds, religions, racial and other, a growing numbers of humanity is coming to realize that if they seek the Light within themselves with enough dedication; keep at it and hold to their own vision of knowing and seeing their own Light, they will find it.

So, what is this thing called the “Light” and how can seeking and finding it, make us happy and whole unto ourselves and to the world? It is that spark of Divinity within each of us that comes from the creative Source of the universe. Each of us is part of the wholeness of that creation. We can take a cloth and point to the weave that holds it together at any one point, and even though one part of the weave may look weak, another strong and yet another “just good and normal,” the fabric as a whole still maintains its wholeness as a unity, a Oneness. This is how it works here. We are all a part of that Oneness, and though so many, many of us have been damaged by asleep patterns of communication within us and towards others, we are still each a part of the whole and as such, abundant in the Light.

“The Spirit sees what the mind only hopes for…” Part 3

Tuesday, October 27th, 2015

The existence of such a field ensures that the hopes and dreams of any one of us are intimately connected with the hopes and dreams of all of us. This seems abstract right now, but if we consider that in fifty years from now we may very well be living in a world that accepts this truth, and more importantly, CREATES our world from the HOPES AND DREAMS OF UNIFIED HUMANITY based on this truth, it does open the possibility today that we can all begin to connect with that field through the Presence of our own indwelling Spirit and begin to create a world of peaceful destiny fulfilled for humanity as a whole.

All this said, how does this affect each of our day-to-day lives right now? We each of us, no matter what our social status has pretty much easy access to the “God within,” (the indwelling Spirit). So, going after separate individual hopes and dreams conflicts directly with the reality of the truth of our Oneness, as a humankind, in Spirit. When we choose to “go our own way” and not to listen to, or even acknowledge, our connection to the Divine living in us, we tend to feel off, often creating for ourselves the negative emotions, resentments, anger, blame, guilt or shame that come with decisions, hopes and dreams that ignore the existence of the wisdom of our own indwelling Spirit of Light.

So the next time you make plans to fulfill your hopes and dreams, be sure to check-in with Spirit, for it is true, that The Spirit sees what the mind only hopes for… and as such has a better idea of how to create the happiness and contentment of Spirit for which we all strive.

“The Spirit sees what the mind only hopes for…”

Tuesday, October 27th, 2015

This quote is suggesting that while we can hope and pray for a thing, our own higher spiritual connection will end up leading the way to creating the most positive outcome for our hopes and dreams … if we allow it do so. This chapter quote is one of my favorites of the fifty-one in the Harry Pond Looks Homeward novel. “Spirit see, what our mind only hopes for, is a truism for me that I find hard to put into words. But here I go ….

I will start by saying that we can and do manifest our hopes and dreams by embracing them with all our minds and hearts. That said, embracing our hopes and dreams, and manifesting them, may not always be in our own spiritual best interest. We know we can “make it happen” for we have done so all our lives in one way or another … and we hope it will all be positive, but it is the higher consciousness or Spirit that resides within us, that KNOWS whether our hopes and dreams are aligned with own best interest and the fulfillment of our unique destiny.

So, for me it is imperative to of course have my hopes and dreams as we all do, but to check-in always with the Spirit within me, my guidance, as to whether the origin of those hopes and dreams comes from my “lower mind,” ego, or from a higher place of destiny fulfilled within me.

This said, here’s how I understand all this: Within us all resides a unique and wonderful gift that I call the “indwelling” Spirit of the Oneness, God. What is so wonderful about this is that we are all able to access our own direct connection to this Presence to receive “higher wisdom” in relationship to every aspect of our lives. It has been my experience time and time again, and I know this is the case for so many of humanity – that Spirit does see the full picture that the mind can only wonder about.

So, Spiritual awareness is a wonderful way to check-in and keep ourselves and our hopes and dreams aligned with our higher good. If this is so, you might ask, why don’t we all seek to make contact with and listen all the time to this spiritual Presence within us? After all, if it has “higher wisdom,” all of us would do well to seek that relationship. .

“The Spirit sees what the mind only hopes for…” Part 2

Friday, October 23rd, 2015

Our problem as a humanity is that we have thought ourselves separate from that indwelling spirit for so long that we have gotten used to using our mind as the logical mediator for deciding which of our hopes and dreams to “go for,” and more importantly, how to go about fulfilling them. We choose our direction and forget that we are all connected to each other through this indwelling spirit, and the fact that this is the case means that we are not alone in deciding the outcome of our activities to fulfill our hopes and dreams.

Indeed, it has been said, “Let go and let God,” and for those involved in organizations and programs using this approach to individual healing on many levels, e.g., twelve-step programs addressing multiple issues – letting go and letting the spirit within lead in fulfilling our hopes and dreams has been very successful.

We need to understand our connection with each other. The existence of Spirit within each of us means that we are connected to each other in ways that we have not even begun to fully comprehend. Yes, our individual histories and society have supported the notion that it is the “individual” who succeeds, and that society tends to exist to support individuals in fulfilling their hopes and dreams. And for the most part, with this I agree: society does need to support individual actions on this level, except that individual creation that is not informed by spiritual wisdom, focuses the whole of humanity on those efforts of hope and dream fulfillment that are often, even I might say “usually” (in the current state of human awareness and consciousness around the Earth), aimed at individual ego concepts of needs and desires, and not at concepts that can fulfill the WHOLE of society’s interconnected hopes and dreams for a positive destiny fulfilled.

The “Tower of Babel” condition that exists in the world of a humanity that does not yet understand its Oneness – with each creating from their own lower order needs and desires, including the existence of seventy-five wars around the world last year – has created a world of immense suffering across the globe. And yet, even as “asleep individual consciousness” and “asleep social consciousness” reign on an Earth just now awakening from a long sleep, quantum physics supports the notion that we all live in a COMMON “field of possibility” that connects us all of us to each other and to the whole, such that we are communicating with each other and “existence” all the time with our thoughts, feelings and emotions – even as we focus on creating our own, individual, hopes and dreams.

Beyond all else, woman knows her name…but the earth experience continually throws her out-of-balance Part 2

Friday, October 23rd, 2015

What is “salvation” anyway, but the return of what I call the Spirit of Light within us all, such that the world becomes a place that is created from that Spirit, with day-to-day manifestation expressing that Light. Wanting this, it is a sad truth for me that individual “enlightenment” has so often focused on man finding HIS way home. This has been, it seems the history for the most part ofwhat we read about. Yes, we know of the Divine Mother, and current in-the-world women of both Western and Eastern traditions who have reached states of spiritual enlightenment. But for the longer, recorded history of Earth, this has not been the case.

And this brings a sense of confusion to me deep in my soul. For enlightenment, however defined, means that we are awake to our true connection and existence in the ONE. Yes, of course, I AM on my own path “home” in this regard. But I wonder, if it is the truth that beyond all else, woman knows her name…but the earth experience continually throws her out-of-balance, then can I as a man expect to be not only awakened to my own Spiritual Oneness, but also fully fulfilled here on Earth if women (for the most part) knowing at base their own connection to the ONE have had to create lives full of defenses and ways to be that are “off balance” in order to protect themselves in this “crazy” world?

The point is that if women are off-balance how can men ever hope to be part of the creation of a world of Spirit and Unity in the Oneness? In my view, it is not good enough to say we want peace amongst nations, which of course is a grand desire to achieve – when within the boundaries of each nation the relationship between the male part of Great Spirit and the female part of Great Spirit forces woman away from her inherent connection to God. And, of course, if woman is off-balance in her connection to Great Spirit, surely man must be as well.

What do we do about this? How do we begin to approach healing? We can hold within our hearts that the indwelling Spirit of the One comes forth within the minds and hearts of all men living on this planet and shows a path of understanding to men that man’s existence on the Earth, and his own Spiritual connectedness cannot be whole, truly whole, in a world where the feminine in life is not also whole. And while it is extremely important and worthy a goal for us to hold for men in the Western world — where woman have been given some greater opportunity to find their center i.e., not be as off-balance, it is even of greater imperative that we hold this vision for all men around the world – especially those in countries struggling to awaken from the dream of separation and male dominance.

Peace on Earth means peace within the hearts and minds of the people of Earth, men and women … and while peace among nations is a start, it is only that … a beginning. To reach a spiritually conscious Whole Earth will take great healing of the fundamental rift that currently exists within humanity between man and woman. The beauty of knowing our Oneness with Spirit and with each other is that if we Vision It Strong Enough and Give It Enough Love , We Can Make A Difference and Even Make It Happen.

“Beyond all else, woman knows her name…but the earth experience continually throws her out-of-balance”

Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

The chapter 41 quote, “Beyond all else, woman knows her name…but the earth experience continually throws her out-of- balance,” reminds us of the all too tragic truth that a fundamental rift exists between man’s perception of reality and life on Earth and woman’s day-to-day experience of existence. Fundamentally, we are One in Spirit, but the history of women being oppressed on Earth is still all too present these days to be able to call this “history.” Much needs to be done to heal the wounds. But until this comes to pass, I am afraid this chapter quote still holds sway in reflecting this sad truth. With a humble heart, we have to ask ourselves how we can even begin to approach the healing of such a deep separation?

Women KNOW about life here on Earth by virtue of their connection to the heart that is able to be unified with the mind. Love for child, loyalty for family and connection to the God within seem to be inherent within women. Yet, over the centuries of intimidation and violence against them, women have indeed been encouraged to be obedient rather than wise, submissive rather than self-confident, and filled with a “little voice inside” of fear that tells them always to “watch out” rather than with a “little voice” of freedom telling them to blossom – all in a world for the most part both incomprehensible (at base), and indefensible in terms of how it could have ever gotten this way here on this sacred planet.

So, it is not without reason that we see women in various states of day-to-day existence on the planet. Some women, more fortunate than others, live in situations where they can express themselves, reaching to their highest dreams and aspirations, while others live in tyranny of the next wrong-said- word or turn-of-a-corner.

This chapter quote came to me as did all the chapter quotes in Harry Pond Looks Homeward, without question, judgment or explanation. Yet, for me it is the hardest one to write about. I am fortunate to be with my mate of many years, and we have taught each other much. But this quote goes beyond any individual learning I have had as a man. It goes to the heart of the truth that we are ONE IN THE SPIRIT, and the destiny of man on this Earth is intimately tied to the destiny of women.

“Dance a dance of Light…and know yourself in it” Part 4

Friday, October 16th, 2015

By allowing we can in a way “sit back and watch” our own growth and, indeed, pace it to the level of our own evolutionary abilities in consciousness. It is said, “God never gives us more than one can handle.” If we replace the word “God” with “higher self” or “spiritual guidance,” then we can say that our own guidance will never give us to do more than we can handle. With this in mind, we learn the last step in the dance of Light that allows both our practical mind and our spiritual mind to co-exist together, moving as harmoniously as possible on our path of awakening. Never will it be the case that our spiritual mind will tell us something that would be good for us to pursue, without it knowing that we are ready for that pursuit. In allowing our practical mind to win when it needs to do so i.e., override the spiritual suggestion, we are learning to create a relationship with our spiritual mind, a relationship of trust that will allow us to more and more rely on our higher spiritual voice.

Indeed, as that trust grows, we soon enough find that we are listening more, hearing more, doing more and allowing more of our spiritual voice to guide us – and as we do so, our practical, day- to-day world, miraculously becomes aligned and in harmony with our spiritual world. Self-knowledge and growth lead the way as we “Dance the Dance of Light…and know (y)ourself in it”

“Dance a dance of Light…and know yourself in it” Part 3

Tuesday, October 13th, 2015

So, “organizationally” and “family-wise” we find some comfort, at some level, in having trusted friends, trusted processes, trusted routines that are tried and true, reliable. And the one thing we learn early on in our connection with the voice of our spiritual guidance is that by listening, hearing and doing what that voice guides us to do, there exists a high possibility that it will guide us to places and to do things that take us outside of those familiar comfort zones. So, in essence, to learn steps two and three, hearing and doing in the dance of Light, either as a beginning student or even later on as a Master – is to learn that one can trust the voice of spirit within.

It won’t always seem logical, and it won’t always seem practical, but it will always lead you on a positive expanded path of self-knowledge. And this is what learning the dance of Light is all about. We cannot advance in our spiritual awareness or understanding of ourselves and our lives without lending a “listening ear,” a ”hearing heart,” and a “doing spirit” to follow the guidance within each of us that is here to show us each in our own unique way, to dance our own dance of joy.

Learning these three of the four steps of the dance of Light are most important in learning how to Dance the Dance of Light on your own path to self-awakening and self-knowledge. But the fourth and final step in learning the dance is one that “makes it all happen.” It is the step of “allowing” that brings it all together on our path of becoming the “Master” of the Dance of Light.

By learning this last step of allowing, we learn that the conflict existing between our “doing, practical mind,” and our “spiritual, guidance mind” is able be resolved and mediated as we go from “beginning student” to “Master” of the dance of Light. How that can happen relates to the essence of what the word allowing means in this context. Once we understand that, then we can understand that it is the key to making it possible for us to grow into our “spiritual selves” without great, trauma, pain or turmoil.

This is so because in learning to allow, we grow to understand that the conflict between the “practical” and the “spiritual” voices within us can be regulated in a way that helps us both remain steady and in a place of balance in our practical lives, while at the same time helping us open to our own unique spiritual guidance and growth. The allowing step in the dance gives us the vision and activity of accepting where we are in our present state of consciousness in relationship to doing from our practical minds, while helping us to also HEAR and DO at the same time (to the degree or level of our own unique evolution) from our spiritual mind.

“Dance a dance of Light…and know yourself in it” Part 2

Friday, October 9th, 2015

While earlier in my life I had a hard time learning this first steps to “listening all the time,” after awhile I got used to it. As I practiced this first step, it became easier. The second step, hearing was also equally challenging for me. For while I became more aware of the presence of my spiritual voice in my life, I didn’t always want to hear what my voice of spiritual guidance was saying. Why was this? Because in hearing what guidance was saying, it meant that I didn’t only listen to – and perhaps ignore a lot of the time the higher wisdom that was being shared – but also to actually follow through and DO the actions that I was being guided to take.

Why do we find it so hard to learn this step of hearing and doing in the dance of Light, because it brings into focus the massive conflict that exists within each of us individually, and humanity as a whole, relating to TRUSTING THE FORCE or GREAT SPIRIT, or GOD, or whatever you call it. We can see by the fact we all speak different languages on this planet, have different allegiances to families, religions, friends, organizations, neighborhoods, etc., that our differences are so great that we have clustered together with those we can trust, at least to some degree, in order to feel safe.
